We produce our own lead types: the small types used for entire texts are cast on Monotype composition casters, while the types in display sizes (e.g. for headers and posters) are founded on the Monotype supra-caster. Nowadays, there are only few people worldwide who still use these mechanic pneumatic casting machines consisting of thousands of single parts.
For the type founding in hot-metal, we have matrices for more than 3.000 alphabets and more than 3.000 borders to choose from. Our collection includes historical fonts (like the Polifilius from 1499) and almost the complete set of the Univers family (dated from around 1960) by the Swiss font designer Adrian Frutiger. Almost every style of European and American fonts can be found in our type collection.
Among our type collection, there are some true treasures: e.g. we keep some rare German typefaces which are only cast in Vättis nowadays.
