In the magnificent mountain village Vättis (950 metres above sea level), we, Hans-Ueli Frey and Stephan Burkhardt, have been carrying out our printing works called Offizin Parnassia since 2001. Starting off as a mere fascination for old books, our passion soon grew to an extensive printing manufactory (i.e. Offizin in German). First, the types are founded in accordance with the art of traditional craft. Then, the letters are printed on hand presses and, finally, the books are bound exactly as they were in former times.

Owing to the smallness of the works, these four com-partments are closely linked thus guaranteeing the out-come of fine pieces of art.

The Offizin consists of four sections:

In doing so, we aim at a harmonious unity between text, selected material, artistic expression and skill-ed craftsmanship – just as it was achieved during the heyday of the printing era.
